Prepare the filling. Combine the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon zest and juice, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Spread into a rectangular pan.

Make the biscuit topping. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until pea-sized crumbs form. Add the  cream and mix just until a sticky dough forms.

Top filling with biscuits. Form the dough into little patties and place them on top of the blueberry filling. Tip: Lightly flour your hands to shape the patties.

Sprinkle with sugar: Brush the top of each biscuit with a bit of cream and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.

Bake: Bake until the topping is golden-brown and the juices are bubbling aggressively around it, about 35 to 40 minutes.

To serve: Let sit for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream or heavy cream, if desired.
