If you love Mediterranean flavors like Kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and oregano, you will love these Greek Chicken Burgers. But the secret to making them exceptionally juicy and tender, is the creamy, herby feta yogurt sauce which is used both inside the patties and slathered on top. A low-effort, high-reward move that ensures these chicken burgers will never taste dry. Perfect for cooking in a skillet or on the grill.

Let’s Whip Up An Insanely Flavorful Burger!
Chicken burgers may be lighter than traditional beef burgers, but they’re often criticized for being dry, bland, and pretty forgettable. These Greek chicken burgers are anything but. Loaded with Mediterranean favorites like Kalamata olives, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, red onion, and oregano, they’re packed with bold, fresh flavors in every bite.
But what really takes these burgers to the next level is the feta yogurt sauce. Instead of serving it only as a topping, a little gets mixed directly into the ground chicken mixture, keeping the burgers incredibly juicy while adding creamy, herby flavor throughout. The rest is spooned generously over the finished burgers for one more layer of deliciousness that makes them taste anything but ordinary.
Tucked into a toasted bun with crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and thinly sliced red onion, these Greek-style burgers are exactly what summer-weather cooking should be all about. In fact, I predict that just like me, you’ll be making these nonstop for the rest of summer, and beyond!

Key Ingredient Notes

- Ground chicken: Any ground meat will work here, but I especially love ground chicken because it keeps these burgers light while allowing all the Mediterranean flavors to shine. For the juiciest burgers, use ground chicken with a little fat rather than extra-lean.
- Vegetables: Red onion, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, and spinach add plenty of flavor, moisture, and texture to the chicken mixture. The sun-dried tomatoes in particular add a delicious burst of savory, slightly sweet flavor. I also like adding some chopped Kalamata olives, but this is optional.
- Feta yogurt sauce: This creamy Greek yogurt sauce made with feta, lemon juice, garlic, fresh dill, and a few simple seasonings does double duty. A little gets mixed right into the chicken mixture, which helps keep the burgers incredibly juicy and flavorful, and the rest is spooned over the finished burgers—so good!

How To Make Greek Chicken Burgers With Feta Yogurt Sauce
Make the feta yogurt sauce: Add the yogurt, feta, dill, lemon juice, garlic, and salt to a small bowl. Whisk until well combined and set aside.

Make the burger patties: Add all of the chicken burger ingredients to a large bowl, plus 3 tablespoons of the prepared feta yogurt sauce. Using your hands, or a rubber spatula, gently mix everything until combined. Don’t over-mix. If the mixture is very sticky, lightly wet your hands to form the patties. Form mixture into 4 patties.

Cook the burgers: In a large skillet, cook the patties until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side. If you prefer to grill the patties, refrigerate for at least 20 minutes while the grill preheats (detailed instructions can be found in the recipe card below).

To serve: Top the patties with the feta yogurt sauce and add extra toppings of choice such as crispy lettuce, tomato, onions, or thinly sliced cucumbers.

Tips For Greek Burger Success
- If the mixture is a bit sticky when forming the patties, moisten your hands slightly with water or olive oil.
- Don’t press down on the chicken burgers while they cook as this can dry them out.
- If your kitchen is very hot, or the mixture seems a little soft, place the burger patties in the fridge for about 15 minutes before cooking. This ensures they hold their shape when cooked, and won’t fall apart.
Serving Suggestions
We go crazy for these Greek burger patties tucked into a toasted bun, topped with lots of the feta yogurt sauce, crisp lettuce leaves, juicy tomatoes, and thinly sliced red onion and cucumbers.
Store-bought buns are great, but if you want your burgers to taste extra special, make my homemade brioche hamburger buns! They are super easy to make and absolutely delicious. If you wish to skip the buns altogether, use large lettuce leaves to wrap the patties, or serve the patties over a Greek-style salad with the feta yogurt sauce.
As for the sides, fries or chips are always reliable and delicious, but if you have the time, these baked Parmesan potato wedges are always a huge hit! On a hot summer day, keep it light and fresh with this watermelon salad, this cool and crisp avocado cucumber salad with chickpeas and feta, or a simple green salad.

Make Ahead And Storage Tips
These Greek chicken burgers with feta yogurt sauce are excellent for meal prep. They freeze well and are easy to reheat.
- To make ahead: Place shaped patties on a parchment lined baking sheet and cover lightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for up to 1 day (you can maybe get away with 2 days if your ground chicken is really fresh).
- To store leftovers in refrigerator: Leftover cooked burgers will keep well in the fridge for up to 4 days stored in an airtight container.
- To reheat: I like to reheat the patties in a skillet over medium heat. Flip them a few times, until warmed through.
- To freeze raw patties: My favorite thing about these burgers is that you can prepare a large batch for quick future meals. Place raw patties in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for 1-2 hours or until quite firm. Place a piece of parchment paper between each patty and transfer to a freezer safe bag or container, for up to 3 months. Cook from frozen, adding a few more minutes of cooking time, or thaw slightly in the refrigerator before cooking.

Greek Chicken Burgers with Feta Yogurt Sauce

Ingredients
For the Feta Yogurt Sauce
- 4 ounces Greek feta (preferably from a block in brine)
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (whole milk or low-fat)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh dill
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (see notes)
- freshly ground black pepper
For the Chicken Burger
- 1 pound ground chicken
- ¼ cup diced red onion
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- ¼ cup sun-dried tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 cup loosely packed baby spinach, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup pitted Kalamata olives, finely chopped (optional)
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt (see notes)
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, for pan frying
Optional Toppings
- burger buns (homemade or store-bought, preferably toasted)
- thinly sliced tomatoes
- thinly sliced red onion
- lettuce leaves
Instructions
- Make the feta yogurt sauce: In a medium bowl, crumble the feta and mash it with a fork. Add the Greek yogurt, dill, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and several grinds of black pepper. Mix until well combined, then set aside.
- Make the chicken burgers: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, red onion, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, olives (if using), oregano, salt, and black pepper. Add 3 tablespoons of the feta yogurt sauce and gently mix with your hands or a rubber spatula just until everything is evenly combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the burgers tough.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties about ¾-inch thick. The mixture will be soft and slightly sticky; lightly wet your hands with water to make shaping easier, if needed.
- Cook the burgers: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the patties and cook for about 5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the chicken is cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
- To grill: Place the formed patties on a parchment-lined plate or baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to help them firm up. Meanwhile, preheat a well-oiled grill to medium heat. Grill the burgers for about 5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Assemble the burgers: Serve the chicken burgers on toasted buns with a generous spoonful of feta yogurt sauce and your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, sliced tomato, and red onion. Serve any remaining sauce alongside for dipping or drizzling.
